for when you're bored
Controlled Burning
ONE NIGHT.
IN THE COLD.
BEER IN HAND.
HOSE IN THE OTHER.
Sometimes, you look out over the field next door at 8pm and your dad is torching it like a maniac. My dad loves burning landscapes I have discovered. The field next door, the woods behind the house, sometimes I see him chasing ants with a magnifying glass.
The whole point of controlled burning is to clear out unwanted growth like weeds, thorns, and other annoying vegetation. If you've had a beer or two, it's ten times the fun.
As the fire rips through all the thorn beds and pine trees, all you can hear are crackling and hissing sounds. All the while, you're gripping the hose like it's a rope dangling you off a cliff. Gotta be prepped for the stray ambers that land near the house or the fire spreads past the burn barrier.
