Did you know that...

There's an entire shindig that goes down in Austin every year celebrating the sad mule from Winnie the Pooh? Topless women prancing around smoking joints, a man with a split tongue doing acrobatics while playing the bongos, and fashion so assaulting to the eyes it could give you vertigo. The whole thing was started by some University of Texas boomers back in the 1800s or whenever they were in school and it has been an Austin tradition since. They wanted to play hooky and so they told all their teachers it was "Eeyore's birthday" so they could go smoke dope in the park and listen to Creedence Clearwater Revival or whatever they used to do.

NOW...

It's a giant festival of stinky hippie wannabes roaming around with 15% IPAs and spliffys. I happen to like this festival, but I can only tolerate about forty-five minutes to an hour before I have to get out of dodge. Last Eeyore's I was at ended with me and my wife dancing in the rain to some bearded hermit playing the bongos for a whole crowd of folks. That hurts to even write.
